The Querencia Project is a way for all of us to put the heart and soul back into the definition of community. It’s at the community level where things really matter to us, where the size of problems are manageable, and the possibilities are real.

For thousands of years, our lives were lived at a very local level, in villages and tribes. Nature was close, time moved slowly.  That’s the pattern of  life that’s built into our DNA.

Or is it?

Perhaps your ideal community is in the city, surrounded by culture and entertainments that only cities can provide. Maybe your creative energy feeds off all the excitement and noise created by masses of people. In a city, you feel that anything is possible.

The definition of community is different for every one of us, even if we don’t think about it very often. We may not have a vivid picture of the kind of community where we belong, but if we aren’t living in the “right” kind of community, we know it at a very deep level. There’s a feeling that things just aren’t quite right.

I hope that this site will provide you a pleasant opportunity to bring your own ideas about community into focus. [click to continue…]
