The Best You

My vision of the perfect community is one where everyone is encouraged to bring the best of themselves to the whole instead of being forced or prodded to do what others think is best for them.

Basically, you are uniquely YOU for a reason, and we are here to support that and help you as an individual grow to your true potential.

This community will not force or even hint at suggesting that you be anyone other than who you are interested in being. In fact we celebrate your individuality because we recognize it as who you are meant to be and as that you contribute the best of YOU not only to this community, but to the world as a whole.

We believe in support of the uniqueness of each individual because we believe that there is power in being exactly who you were born to be.

We believe that if we all were to follow our own interests and passions that this world would evolve into something truly spectacular without the effort that we are taught that it would take to achieve happiness and well-being.

This is a place to bring your own gifts, talents, loves and passions for the good of the all.

We know that by being true to our own unique selves that the world will automatically balance itself despite what we have been taught in the past.

WE as individuals are more important than society can conceive at this point, and that’s ok, but we are here to make a change for the better, and we will show that as we advance in our community.

Recap: You are here to be YOU and that’s all.

I love your community Skwirl. I just made my decision…I’m setting up residence. I’ve been heading there for quite some time. I find the journey isn’t impossible if I don’t mind tripping over obstacles now and then. :D

Thanks guys! And I’m sure you have a lot to offer the world Sharon! We all do if we would just stop trying to be like everyone else and start being ourselves and appreciating ourselves for our differences.

Has anyone ever heard of a Sudbury School? You should google it, it’s pretty interesting! Here is the first paragraph from Wikipedia on the subject:

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
A Sudbury school is a school that practices a form of democratic education in which students individually decide what to do with their time, and learn as a by-product of ordinary experience rather than adopting a descriptive educational syllabus or standardized instruction by classes following a prescriptive curriculum. Students have complete responsibility for their own education and the school is run by direct democracy in which students and staff are equals.

Unfortunately the Sudbury school in our area just closed it’s doors a couple of years ago. My granddaughter was a student there from age 5 to age 15. My daughter was an instructor. My grandson was only able to attend 1 year before it closed.

Yes, it was an amazing experience for them…as well as me. Every time I visited, the children were always playing…yet, the 2 years since the school closed, my granddaughter has maintained an A in every class she has taken in high school. I have to mention, she just did a presentation of the Lakota for her history class. When she completed it, her teacher told the rest of the students “This is how it’s done”. (referring my granddaughter’s pres), “this is what the rest of you will be measured against.” I have to chuckle, when she told me this, she had such a glow from the complement.

Ok, enough of gramma’s rant. :D

I’m definitely going to be checking out that school – my grandson starts school next year, and it would be great if he could have such a pleasant experience. Thanks, guys, for mentioning it.

I’d love to see a post on this blog about a whole community built around a better way to parent kids.

WOW! Thanks for sharing that Sharon. I loved hearing about how well your granddaughter has done. So do you contribute it to her early years at the Sudbury school? She sounds like an amazing young lady!
Very interesting that your daughter was an instructor there, I would love to hear what she had to say about the school. Thanks again Sharon!

Thank you Skwirl

Have you been thinking of starting your children in a Sudbury school? I’d be happy to let my daughter know of your interest.

No, I don’t have kids lol! I just love the concept, and I love the idea of nourishing the individuality of each child.
